Barbara KURIGER
New Zealand
Member of Parliament and National Spokesperson for Agriculture, Biosecurity and Food Safety
Description
Barbara is the current MP for Taranaki-King Country in New Zealand, having been elected at the 2014 General Election. A life-long dairy farmer, Barbara remains a shareholder in two family-owned farming businesses. She is currently National’s Spokesperson for Agriculture, Biosecurity and Food Safety and the party lead on Parliament’s Primary Production Select Committee – overseeing legislation affecting the agricultural sector. She is dedicated to achieving better policy outcomes for rural New Zealand, which she believes is too often forgotten in the policy making processes of Wellington. She has a proven track record advocating for better rural services, and continues to fight for rural proofing in practice, not just on paper.
