Description
Kazuhiro Watanabe is a Director and Senior Negotiator for Southeast Asia, Bilateral Affairs Division, Export and International Affairs Bureau of Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, where he is responsible for bilateral and multilateral relations and economic partnerships with the Southeast Asian region. His work includes technology and knowledge sharing, exchange of experts, and promotion of Japanese exports and investment with the aim of enhancing food security, sustainable and robust agriculture, and rural development in the Southeast Asian region and Japan.
Previously, Kazuhiro Watabe conducted research on diverse issues in rural areas at tthe Japanese Institute of Irrigation and Drainage, a comprehensive think tank for rural development, and made policy proposals to the government on the results of his research. He also worked for the Rural Development Bureau of Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, where he was in charge of regional development policies and planned and drafted policies for disadvantaged areas.
Kazuhiro Watanabe holds a Master of International Development Studies from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies and a Master of Agricultural Science from Kyoto University. He also holds a Japanese national diploma of Professional Engineer in Agriculture.
