This session shares key findings from a 2021 study of gold flows out of Venezuela. The pandemic, legal and regulatory developments, changes within Venezuela, and new dynamics among external actors have all shifted the means by which gold moves out from Venezuela to other parts of the world. This session will examine how and why things have changed, who is involved, where the gold is going, and what can be done to reduce illicit activity.
