Description
by the World Gold Council and the LBMA
Reducing the marginalisation of responsible ASGM requires a multiplicity of approaches and the involvement of a range of constructive actors. The panel will hear reflections about their roles from a Central Bank, a gold refiner, civil society, the London Bullion Market Association and the World Gold Council.
The panel will include the launch of a new research report from the World Gold Council on the role of Central Bank ASGM domestic purchase programmes in supporting formalisation, meeting due diligence standards, supporting higher safety and environmental performance and ensuring greater security and more predictable prices for ASGM groups. The report draws on learnings from four Central Bank country case studies.
