Carmen Pagés is a labor markets expert. She was the Chief of the Labor Markets Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where she directed the technical and operational work related to this topic and a portfolio of labor orientation, intermediation and job training projects worth more than US$500 million. Previously, Carmen served as Principal Economist at the IDB Research Department and as an Economist at the World Bank. Her latest publications focus on how technology transforms the job market and the demand for skills. Carmen is the author of eight books and has published extensively in academic journals. She has a Master Degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Boston.
