Description
Jacopo Staccioli is Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Economic Policy, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy and Affiliate Researcher at the Institute of Economics, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy. Currently, he is also External Consultant to the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation, Paris, France, and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Political, Economic and Social Sciences, University of Milan, Italy.
He is mainly interested in the nexus between technological innovation and employment dynamics, which he investigates with a twofold empirical undertaking. On the one hand, he employs machine learning and big-data analytics techniques to explore the knowledge-base embedded into large datasets of patent applications; on the other hand, he collects first-hand testimony from within firms by means of field-work activity and interviews to blue- and white-collar workers.
He previously earned a Ph.D. in Economics at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna with a thesis on financial markets’ dynamics titled ‘Essays on the emergence of endogenous financial fluctuations’ under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Dosi.
