Joshua Gans is a Professor of Strategic Management and holds the Jeffrey S. Skoll Chair of Technical Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. He is also Chief Economist of the Creative Destruction Lab, where he explores the intersection of innovation, strategy, and technological disruption. Joshua’s research focuses on technological competition, innovation, and the economics of artificial intelligence. He is a Research Associate at the NBER and affiliated with initiatives like MIT’s Initiative on the Digital Economy and the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society. His work has been published in leading journals, including the American Economic Review and Journal of Political Economy, and he has authored influential books such as Prediction Machines and Power & Prediction, which examine the economic implications of AI. Beyond academia, Joshua has extensive experience advising on competition policy and market regulation, including work with the US Department of Justice, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and the Federal Trade Commission.
