Limor Shmerling Magazanik is the Managing Director of the Israel Tech Policy Institute (ITPI) and a Senior Fellow at the Future of Privacy Forum. The Israel Tech Policy Institute is an incubator for tech policy leadership and scholarship, advancing responsible and ethical practices in support of emerging technologies, with a focus on data centric applications.
In her role, Limor provides leadership and directs the institute’s policy agenda, engaging policymakers, regulators, academics, and business leaders, convenes groups for discussion, and initiates and oversees research.
Limor served for a decade with the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority at the Ministry of Justice, serving most recently as Director of Strategic Alliances and previously as Director of Licensing & Inspection. She is a Certified Privacy Professional (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM), leader of policy framing and regulation in technology driven sectors, promoting compliance with data protection, privacy, cybersecurity and digital identity regulation.
Limor has deep experience tackling information society issues such as the Internet of Things, autonomous vehicles, smart cities, biometrics, social networks, digital health care, credit data, fintech and more. She has a multifaceted background in both government and the private sector, having practiced corporate, property and banking law, as well as working in product and project management in the Israeli high-tech industry.
Limor is adjunct lecturer at the Hebrew University Jerusalem and at the IDC Herzliya, and holds an L.L.B. and L.L.M in Law, and an M.A in Literature, from Tel-Aviv University.
In 2018 Limor was chosen as one of Forbes’ World’s Top 50 Women in Tech.
