Description
Etienne-René Massie is the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Small Business, Tourism and Marketplace Services Sector at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). The Sector fosters business and consumer confidence in the marketplace, small business and tourism competitiveness, and administers three of ISED’s marketplace regulation frameworks: Corporations Canada, Measurement Canada, and the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.
Etienne previously held the role of Director General of the Small Business Branch at ISED, leading the creation of the Black Entrepreneurship Program, the Women Entrepreneurship Program, and the Canada Digital Adoption Program, as well as increased support through the Venture Capital Catalyst Initiative, and youth and Indigenous entrepreneur support. Before joining ISED, Etienne served as Senior Director at Employment and Social Development Canada.
