Description

Bence Gerlaki, Deputy State Secretary for Economic Development Strategy, Outward Direct Investment, Consumer Protection and Trade at the Ministry for National Economy of Hungary, holds a bachelor's degree from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and a master's degree from Corvinus University of Budapest, both in economics. Mr. Gerlaki started his professional career in 2016 at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (national bank of Hungary), where his tasks involved the development of the domestic monetary policy and structural finance. Subsequently, he worked at the Secretariat of the Prime Minister's Chief Economic Advisor. Bence Gerlaki assumed his position as Deputy State Secretary in June 2022. Initially, he was responsible for the development of the economic development strategy, the management of the state-owned capital funds and the supervision of the EXIM Bank of Hungary. His portfolio has been expanded twice, since 1 January 2024 he has been responsible for trade and since 1 August 2024 for consumer protection. During his work as deputy state secretary, Bence Gerlaki has participated in the drafting process of several high-level government decisions on economic issues and monetary policy. This current year, he has mainly focused on issues affecting the domestic retail sector and the field of consumer protection.
