Jane Halton is chair of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). CEPI was set up at Davos in 2017 by the governments of Norway and India, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wellcome Trust and World Economic Forum. A partnership of public, private, philanthropic, and civil society organisations, it aims to advance, finance and coordinate the development of new vaccines to prevent future epidemics. Ms. Halton is a former Secretary of the Australian Department of Finance, responsible for supporting the delivery of the Australian Government Budget, the ongoing management of the Australian Government’s non-defense domestic property portfolio, key assets and asset sales, plus the financial and performance framework for Australian Government agencies. Ms. Halton has held numerous international appointments including the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (2004–2007), President of the World Health Assembly (2007), Chair of the Executive Board of WHO, and Chair of the OECD Health Committee (2007–2012). She is a member of the Boards of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ Bank), Clayton Utz, and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, and olds the positions of Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra.
