Senior Policy Director, Global Clean Air
Description
Sergio Sanchez works as Senior Policy Director for the Global Clean Air Initiative, at EDF. Previously, he was Mexico's Undersecretary of Environmental Protection, where he was responsible for the integrated environmental management of air quality, hazardous wastes, wildlife, the federal coastal and terrestrial maritime zone, and environmental impact assessment. He previously served as Director General for Air Quality Management in Mexico’s Federal Government, and as Director General of Environmental Projects in the Government of Mexico City. At the international level, he was Head of the Executive Secretariat of the Clean Air Initiative for Latin America and the Caribbean with the World Bank and Executive Director of the Clean Air Institute, based in Washington DC, working throughout Latin America for more than a decade. He is an Environmental Engineer from the Autonomous Metropolitan University of Mexico. He is also a graduate from the LEAD International Program for Environment and Development of the Colegio de México, for which he was granted with a fellowship from the Rockefeller Foundation.
