Description
Washington Fajardo is the former Chief of Rio de Janeiro’s Urban Planning Department and President of Pereira Passos Institute of Urbanism. He also ran the historic preservation department for many years. Fajardo led the regeneration plan for Rio’s downtown, called “Reviver Centro,” in Portuguese, and coordinated the new master plan for the city. He is a Harvard GSD Loeb Fellow and created with MIT Senseable City Lab the Favelas 4D project, creating a digital twin for informal settlements.
