Mr. Freitas de Almeida holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical Engineer from the
Federal University of Pernambuco and a bachelor’s degree in Law from the
University of Brasilia. He also holds an MBA in Business Management from the
Getúlio Vargas Foundation - São Paulo.
Before becoming the Vice-Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, he
held several positions as Federal Auditor for External Control at the Brazilian
Federal Court of Accounts – TCU: Head of the Office for International Relations,
Advisor to the Ministers, Vice-President's Chief of Staff, Secretary General for
Administration and Secretary of External Control for TCU´s office in São Paulo.
He has also worked in the public and private energy and mining sector, having
held the positions of engineer at Companhia Hidrelétrica do São Francisco of
Eletronorte, Corporate General Manager at Petra Energia and Veneza Mineração,
Administrative and Financial Director at STR Projetos e Participações and
Executive Vice-President of Governance and Compliance at Petra Energia.
