Biography
Helena SÃ¥ngeland is an experienced diplomat and currently holds the post as Ambassador of Sweden to the OECD and Unesco in Paris. Previously, she served as Swedish ambassador to China and to Mongolia (2019-2023). She served as Ambassador of Sweden to the Islamic Republic of Iran (2016-2019) and to Malaysia (2005-2010). Ambassador SÃ¥ngeland has also been posted to Vietnam (2002-2005) and to Finland (1992-95), been seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland (1999-2000) and to Italy (1989-1992).
Ambassador SÃ¥ngeland has held various positions at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, such as Ambassador at the European Union Department in charge of Baltic Year 2011 (2011), Head of the Department for Asia and Oceania, ASEM senior official and Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (2011-2016).
Ambassador Sångeland has a degree on science in business administration and economics from Göteborg School of Economics and Business Administration and has studied both political science and German at the University of Göteborg, Sweden.
