Description
Amélie de Montchalin has been Minister for Public Accounts since December 2024.
She previously served as France's Permanent Representative to the OECD in Paris since November 30, 2022, and has also served as Chair of the Governing Board of the OECD Development Centre since March 2024.
Amélie de Montchalin holds degrees in economics from Paris-Dauphine University and HEC Paris, in history from Paris IV-Sorbonne University, and in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
An economist by training, she worked on inflation, economic financing, and systemic risk management during the Eurozone crisis at Exane BNP Paribas, then within the AXA Group as Director of Foresight and Public Policy. In 2015-2016, she actively participated in work on financing the ecological transition by private investors, notably within the Task Force on Climate Financial Disclosure (TCFD) and the European Commission's High-Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance.
Elected in June 2017 as a Member of Parliament for Essonne and a member of the Finance Committee, she was responsible for the budget for the presidential majority in the National Assembly and Special Rapporteur for the Research and Innovation budget for 2018 and 2019.
She joined the French government in March 2019 as Secretary of State for European Affairs, where she led the Brexit negotiations and the preparatory negotiations for the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. She was also Secretary General for Franco-German Cooperation at the time. She became Minister for Transformation and the Civil Service in July 2020, where she led the reform of the senior civil service and the transformation of public services in response to COVID-19 and its consequences.
She was finally appointed Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion in May 2022.
