The language of this session is Greek. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has not only led to a global health and economic crisis but also to a corruption crisis, demanding now more than ever transparency, accountability and integrity in all response efforts. The virtual discussion organized by the Greek National Transparency Authority focuses on preventive and law enforcement efforts undertaken by Greek public authorities. The first part of the discussion will address law enforcement during and beyond the pandemic, with speakers addressing priorities and challenges in the areas of inspections, cyber-crime and employment. Inspection findings on nursing homes will also be presented. The second part of the discussion will focus on prevention and awareness-raising against fraud and corruption in the era of pandemic. It will specifically discuss the development of tools to protect against fraud practices and demonstrate the importance of using technology as a means to enhance transparency and access to government information.
