REGISTER: Monitoring COVID-19 relief spending in the US

This session needs to be registered for separately from the Forum - scroll down to access the registration form, or copy the link into your browser: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/monitoring-covid-19/register. This session is organised by the Project On Government Oversight, Knowledge Partner of the virtual 2021 OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum. The language of this session is English. In September 2020, POGO launched its COVID-19 relief spending tracker, which provides the most expansive picture of United States federal spending on the COVID-19 crisis available. The tracker includes an industry-by-industry spending breakdown and a mapping feature that allows users to view spending data at the state, county, and zip code level alongside demographic information and unemployment statistics, allowing users to put government spending into context. This living resource provides much-needed transparency into the US government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. Since its launch, the tracker has been used to illuminate major inequities based on available data regarding COVID relief spending. During this session, POGO’s data and policy experts will provide a demonstration of the tracker and discuss how this application is used by POGO, civil society partners, journalists, and the public to improve oversight of COVID relief spending and ensure federal dollars are reaching those communities they were intended to help, such as small business owners from underserved communities. Panelists: • Zoe Reiter, Director of Civic Engagement, Project On Government Oversight (moderator) • Leslie Garvey, Creative Director, Project On Government Oversight (speaker) • Sean Moulton, Senior Policy Analyst, Project On Government Oversight (speaker) Organisation website: www.pogo.org
