This session is organised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Knowledge Partner of the virtual 2021 OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum.
The language of this session is English.
How can international investors respond to an emergency situation without enabling corruption? Can organisations be efficient and pragmatic without diminishing integrity standards? When Covid-19 hit its Countries of Operations, these were key questions that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) had to answer when developing its emergency response. Acting under significant time pressure, the Bank had to evaluate new products to disburse several hundred million euros, often in sectors and countries posing high corruption risks. In this session, EBRD staff will showcase how flexible thinking about integrity risks allowed the institution to embed anti-corruption measures in its crisis response, build internal consensus, and deploy innovative risk management. Bringing together members of EBRD’s Compliance and Banking Teams, this session will provide insight into the response of an IFI to the Covid-19 challenge and aims to create a dialogue with participants on lessons learned from maintaining integrity in the crisis.
