Didi Kirsten Tatlow is a journalist and sinologist. A graduate of the Beijing Language Institute (è¯è¨€å¦é™¢) and SOAS, the University of London, she began to work as a journalist in 1994 at her hometown newspaper, the Hong Kong Standard, before moving to the Associated Press and the New York Times. After leaving China in 2017 she worked for think tanks in Berlin and Prague, returning to journalism in 2022 as "Senior Reporter, International Affairs" at Newsweek magazine. She is an editor and author of Beyond Espionage: China’s Quest for Foreign Technology. In March 2022 she won a prize from the Overseas Press Club of America for her debut series at Newsweek, Covert China
