Silvia Mera serves as GoodWeave International’s Apparel Program Director. In this capacity, she leads the organization’s apparel and fashion jewelry portfolio, as well as manages program implementation in India and Bangladesh. Silvia has more than nine years of experience working in Asia. Most recently she served as Program Director of the Mekong Club, a Hong Kong-based NGO. Here she led an anti-modern slavery association of multinational corporations and advised businesses from the apparel, banking, retail and hospitality sectors on their human rights policies and practices. Silvia was also responsible for the development of strategic partnerships with U.N. agencies, NGOs and the private sector, as well as for the management of a range of projects, from worker voice technology to e-learning and capacity building. Previously, Silvia worked in supply chain management and business development for an Italian design brand, where she managed procurement and business relationships with suppliers in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and India. Silvia regularly speaks at international events and has authored research reports and articles on modern slavery. Silvia holds a Master’s Degree in international relations and a Bachelor’s Degree in political science from LUISS University in Rome. She also received a post-graduate master in international trading from the Italian Trade Agency and an executive certificate in corporate social responsibility from the University of Hong Kong.
