This session will look at the advent of a global platform or ‘regulatory technology’ (‘reg-tech’) to gather, analyze and use direct Worker Voice data to identify forced labour and exploitation in supply chains. These are based on proliferating affordable mobile technology to assert every and any worker’s personal rights regarding data assets, privacy and equitable participation in the digital economy. Using tools such as broad-based workers surveys, in collaboration with key civil society organizations and experts and multinational and domestic businesses, such reg-tech will enable regulators to engage responsible global entities in private, public and community sectors, to align to OECD Guidelines, UN SDGs, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and demonstrate compliance to legislation emerging internationally requiring respect for Human Rights and fair social, environmental and economic practices.
Global thinking and leadership in Reg-Tech, especially for Human Rights Due Diligence is fragmented. The opportunity to, necessity of, including and workers’ voices directly is becoming a reality both for those companies reporting on supply chains as well as those consumers and regulators seeking assurance that products and services are devoid of human suffering. This session will discuss standards and practices for technology and data to evidence and demonstrate respect for rights in supply chains to comply with emerging regulation.
