This session will give an overview of relevant new research about unfair trading practices affecting garment workers outside but also inside the EU, as well as presenting best practises examples by EU fashion SMEs and their obstacle to trade fairly.

• Sabina Lawreniuk, Research Fellow in the School of Geography at the University of Nottingham, co-author of the report Building Forward Worse. How COVID-19 has accelerated the race to the bottom in the global garment industry
• Matthew Anderson and Tamsin Bradley, authors of a research on fair purchasing practices by European SMEs in the textile sector (to be published soon)
