Description
Dr. Enrico C. Paringit is currently the Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCIEERD), a position he held since December 2018. Dr Paringit holds a BS in Geodetic Engineering (1997), MS in Remote Sensing (1999), both from the University of the Philippines and obtained his Doctor of Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (2003). He is seconded to DOST by UP Diliman where he is a Professor of Geodetic Engineering since 2014. He has served as chair and director of the Department of Geodetic Engineering and Director of the Training Center for Applied Geodesy and Photogrammetry (TCAGP). His specialization is in the field of remote sensing and modeling of hydrological and coastal environments for applications in disaster risk reduction and in energy resource assessment. Dr. Eric, as he is fondly called, has conducted, and led numerous research including the Disaster Risk Exposure and Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM Program) and Phil-LIDAR 1 Programs from 2011-2018 which using laser mapping technology to identify flood-prone areas throughout the country. At PCIEERD, he pursued innovations in the R&D grants program management, capacity-building and strengthened partnerships to accelerate the pace of technology development and innovation in the Philippines.
