Erica Hope
European Climate Foundation
Director, Climate Governance Programme
Description
Erica leads the European Climate Foundation’s initiative on Climate Governance. This cross-cutting programme aims to build evidence and understanding of how to deliver net zero greenhouse gas emissions by mid-century, and to drive the adoption and implementation of dedicated governance, institutions and processes to help realise this at EU and national levels.
As well as top-down frameworks, the team also looks at citizen engagement processes for climate policy-making, and in 2021 Erica co-founded the Knowledge Network on Climate Assemblies (KNOCA). She has previously been part of the ECF’s energy efficiency and UK teams.
Before joining ECF in 2013, Erica led the policy and advocacy activities of NGO network Climate Action Network Europe on energy efficiency, from where she helped to establish the influential Coalition for Energy Savings. From 2005-2009, she was parliamentary assistant to Green MEP Caroline Lucas. She has also worked at the Institute for Public Policy Research in London, and has an MA in Human Sciences from Oxford University.
A Brexit exile based in Brussels, Erica speaks English and French, tries at Spanish and especially enjoys nature, music and meditation.
