Description
Liam Smith is the Director of BehaviourWorks Australia (BWA), an applied behaviour change research unit based in Monash University’s Sustainable Development Institute. Since establishing BWA in 2011, he has overseen significant growth and the research group now has over 30 staff and a portfolio of over 500 behaviour change projects conducted in collaboration with government, industry and Non-Government Organisation partners. His research interests include the formation and breaking of habits, spillover between behaviours and the nexus between systems and behaviour change. His research investigated these and other questions in numerous public policy areas including health, environment, social inclusion, biosecurity, safety and finance and has published over 60 academic research papers as well as hundreds of research reports. Liam has wide Board and Committee representation including the Lancet’s Global Taskforce on Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions for COVID-19, the Board of Inclusive Australia and representation on several Victorian State Government committees.
