Description
Marianna B. Karttunen is currently leading the work on international regulatory co-operation at the OECD Regulatory Policy Division, as well as the IO Partnership for Effective International Rulemaking. In this position, she has carries out innovative policy work to help strengthen governments’ efforts for collective action with the support of an effective rules-based international system. Most recently this has included the public launch of OECD Best Practice Principles on international regulatory co-operation to make domestic rulemaking fit for globalisation, and a Compendium of IO Practices to ensure better transparency and impact of international rulemaking. The importance of this work has proved especially crucial with increasing IRC efforts in the context of COVID-19. Previously, she held a position as Policy Adviser at the OECD G8-G20 Sherpa Office and conducted research at the Trade and Environment Division of the WTO. Karttunen has a Ph.D. in Law from the European University Institute and is the author of Transparency in the WTO SPS and TBT Agreements: The Real Jewel in the Crown (Cambridge University Press, 2020).
