Biography
Born on January 27, 1965, in Villach, Austria, Petra Oberrauner has been a Member of the National Council since October 2019, serving on the committees for Research, Innovation and Digitization; Science; Economy; and Equality. From 2015 to 2019, she was 1st Vice Mayor of Villach, focusing on economic, technological, and research policies. A cross-border cooperation expert, she advised regional governments and helped establish the Euregio "Senza Confini." She was MD of ECC GmbH (2001–2019) and coordinated EU mobility projects in the border region of Carinthia and Friuli Venezia Giulia on behalf of the European Commission. Since 2022, she has been Vice President of the Social Democratic Economic Association and leads the SPÖ women’s division in Carinthia.
