Biographie

In 2012, Koen was elected councillor of Edegem where he became mayor in 2013. In 2018, his local party won an absolute mayority, allowing him to remain mayor. Meanwhile his third term as mayor is running. Since 2014, he is a MP at the Belgian chamber of representatives, in 2019 and 2024 Koen was re-elected as MP. He is currently member and vice-chairman of the foreign affairs committee and deputy member of the national defence committee. Koen is also part of the JPSG, as delegation leader and speaker, which conducts a unique form of rigorous research into the functioning of Europol. In 2024 Koen became a deputy member of the NATO PA Political Committee. Koen has a degree in Commercial Engineering and also obtained a certificate "High Studies for Security and Defense" at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels in 2020. Koen is born in 1981, married and has two lovely children. He speaks Dutch, English and French.
