Biography
Mr. Akio Fukuda has been elected seven times to the House of Representatives of the National Diet of Japan and is a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP). He was first elected in 2005.
He graduated from the Faculty of Education at Tohoku University. After working as an official of Imaichi City, Tochigi Prefecture, he served as mayor of Imaichi (1991-2000) and governor of Tochigi (2000-2004). In national politics, he worked as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications from 2011 to 2012 in the Noda Cabinet and dedicates himself to making policy recommendations mainly in the fields of local autonomy and public finance.
He currently serves as the Head of the Federation of CDP Tochigi Prefecture Branches.
