Stéphanie Seydoux
Director, Director-General’s Envoy for Multilateral Affairs
Stéphanie Seydoux took up her position as the Director-General’s Envoy for Multilateral Affairs on 1 November, 2022. She is posted at WHO Headquarters in Geneva.
In this role, she advocates for health at the highest political level and leads negotiations in multilateral and intergovernmental settings. She ensures high-level representation on behalf of the Director-General and provides political and diplomatic leadership for key strategic initiatives.
Between 2018 and 2022, Stéphanie Seydoux served as the French Ambassador for Global Health representing France in international organizations such as The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and Unitaid. In that role, she contributed to the design and implementation of the French Strategy for Global Health which focuses on strengthening health systems and promoting equitable access, with a focus on gender and vulnerable groups.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she proactively supported France’s contribution to the multilateral response (in particular through the ACT-Accelerator, vaccine sharing, and development of local production capacities). She was also involved in the 6th Global Fund replenishment conference which was held in Lyon, France in October 2019.
After starting her career at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Stéphanie Seydoux joined the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (IGAS) in 2004. From 2007 to 2010, she was Head of Equality Promotion at the French Independent Equality Commission.
From 2010 to 2013, she was Deputy Ambassador at the French Embassy in Kenya. During the period 2014-2017, she served as Head of the French Women’s Rights department.
Stéphanie Seydoux has dual French and Bolivian citizenship. She holds a Master's degree in literature from the University of Oxford, and is a graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and the French National School of Administration (ENA). She is a member of Institut Pasteur’s “Assemblée des Cent”.
