Description
Sean Tyson is a Senior Advisor for international activities in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy. In this role he has developed new mechanisms to support NE’s engagement with advanced and emerging nuclear programs in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe. These mechanisms include providing expert support and funding to international organizations, promoting internships and post-doctoral studies at U.S. research and academic institutions, and directing the development of a broad range of online and remote training products for countries planning or embarking on new peaceful nuclear programs. Mr. Tyson also directs NE’s extensive contribution to the international dialogue on multinational options for the disposal of SNF and HLW.
Mr. Tyson has in the past supported the Department’s international non-proliferation, safety and security programs in Northeast Asia, Russia and the Middle East. Mr. Tyson was awarded a master’s degree in international policy by the Monterey Institute of International Studies in 1992 and currently resides in Maryland.
