Description
Cherry is a special adviser to the GDF Programme at Nuclear Waste Services and an Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham.
She has been working on the UK geological disposal programme for more than 30 years and has recently retired after 11 years as Chief Scientific Adviser at Radioactive Waste Management. She also has extensive experience in international collaborative projects, peer reviews and advisory committees. She is a current member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the British Geological Survey and of the Technical Advisory Committee to NUMO, the Waste Management Organisation in Japan.
She has an MA in Natural Sciences and a PhD in materials science from Cambridge University and a Diploma in Organisational Leadership from the Said Business School at Oxford University.
