Jean-Pierre Ntezimana

Biography

Jean-Pierre Ntezimana is a senior advisor at Statistics Sweden, based at the African Union Institute for Statistics (STATAFRIC) in Tunis, Tunisia. In this role, he oversees migration statistics projects in collaboration with the African Union Commission and Regional Economic Communities in Africa, providing strategic guidance and capacity building initiatives in 55 African Union Member States. Previously, Jean-Pierre served as senior advisor for Statistics Sweden's projects in Somalia, Mali, Burkina Faso and several other African countries, where he led efforts to develop national statistical systems, improve data quality and promote international cooperation. He has worked extensively in other regions, including Serbia and other Western Balkan countries, where he has promoted innovations in survey methodology and environmental statistics. With an excellent academic background, Jean-Pierre holds a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Statistics from Stockholm University, Sweden and has been involved in the development of statistical methods and project management for over two decades. Jean-Pierre has contributed to publications and presentations on data quality and innovative statistical solutions. His expertise continues to shape international statistical cooperation, alignment with global data standards, and cross-cultural statistical dialogue.
