Gabriel Auxume
Biography
Gabriel Auxume is a Demographer of Honduran nationality, who has also obtained higher-level diplomas in studies on international migration and cultural management. He currently works as head of planning at the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Honduras. In addition, he performs other functions within the INE, linked to the management of projects for institutional strengthening and positioning, as well as monitoring and delivering the products and commitments of the different initiatives that are worked on in a coordinated and complementary manner with other government institutions and cooperating partners, also highlighting the management of regional and international exchanges, both with the statistics offices of various countries in the region and other actors to strengthen knowledge and experiences in the work of producing official statistics on various topics.
He spent his first years of study (primary school) in a rural school, and had to move to the urban area (the city) for his high school and higher education studies. Currently, he is in the process of training on sampling courses and population estimates. He has worked as a consultant in education statistics and indicators that explain national trends seen in the light of statistics.
In terms of more personal projects, Mr. Auxume is venturing into writing. He is currently in the process of writing his first novel and is volunteering to plant trees to preserve endangered species.
