Description

Dr. Kazuhei Aoyagi is a programme manager of the Horonobe International Project, and assistant principal researcher of the JAEA Horonobe Underground Research Center. He joined JAEA in 2012 and has performed in situ experiment related to rock mechanics and tunneling engineering for 9 years. From 2020 to 2022, he seconded to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for the support of developing national R&D plan of geological disposal. Currently, he went back to JAEA in 2023 and managing the international project, coordinating the R&D plan of Horonobe URL project, and making research related to tunneling engineering and rock mechanics.

NEA membership consists of 34 countries representing 80% of the world's installed nuclear electricity generating capacity. The mission of the NEA is to assist its member countries in maintaining and further developing, through international co-operation, the scientific, technological and legal bases required for a safe, environmentally sound and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
