Description
Mr MARC DEMARCHE graduated in 1988 as Master in Engineering and obtained a master in Business Administration at the Solvay Business School of the University of Brussels in 1997.
He started his career in 1988 at the University of Brussels, as an assistant professor in the Analytical Mechanics Department and is currently honorary fellow of this University.
He joined the National Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials (ONDRAF/NIRAS) in 1991, where he was in charge of the construction of radioactive waste storage buildings. Later on, he became division head in charge of waste acceptance criteria and qualification of installations for treatment and radiological characterization of radioactive waste.
During the 1999- 2008 period, Marc Demarche was the manager of EIG EURIDICE – a joint venture between SCK•CEN and ONDRAF/NIRAS – of which he later on became appointed chairman. In 2007 he was appointed as Deputy Director General of ONDRAF/NIRAS. From 1 June 2017 he is the Director General of ONDRAF/NIRAS.
