Bruno Carrasco first joined the Asian Development Bank in 1993 as a Young Professional. In 2003, he served as Principal Financial Economist in the South Asia Department. He became Director, South Asia Country Coordination and Regional Cooperation in 2008; Director, South Asia Public Management, Financial Sector and Trade Division in 2010; and was appointed Chief of Governance Thematic Group in 2019. During 2000-3, he was on leave and worked as Senior Economist at the European Central Bank. Mr. Carrasco has a Ph.D. in Economics from Essex University, United Kingdom, and a Master’s in Economics from the University of British Columbia. During his time as Director of Finance in South Asia he led important and innovative work on PPPs in India including a successful credit enhancement facility. As part of his current role as Chief of Governance he oversees the Quality Infrastructure Investment Agenda.
