A native of Casablanca, Mr. Mehdi TAZI holds a diploma from Télécom Paris Sud obtained in 1999, and an MBA from the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in 2004. In 1999, he started his professional career at KPMG Consulting France. In 2005, he joined the Saham Group as Director of Development. In 2008, he was appointed Managing Director of Isaaf Mondial Assistance, a subsidiary of the aforementioned group, after having served for 14 months as Deputy Managing Director.
Between 2010 and 2017, he was a director of several group insurance companies (Saham Assurance Maroc, Niger, Rwanda and Angola), Taslif and CAT in Morocco. He also served as CEO of GA Angola Seguros from 2013 to 2014. In 2014, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Saham Assurance after having been CEO for 3 years. In 2017, Mr. TAZI acquired Beassur and sold, two years later, a minority stake to Marsh, a world leader in insurance brokerage and risk management.
Distinguished in 2013 by the Jeune Afrique Group among the 25 young African leaders, he appeared in 2014, 2015 and 2016 in the Top 10 of the prestigious ranking of economic leaders on the continent of the Institut Choiseul.
On the associative level, Mr. TAZI was, from 2010 to 2017, Vice-President of the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (FMSAR) and, from 2010 to 2014, President of the Royal Federation of Sport for All . Within CGEM, he served as Vice-President in charge of New Growth Relays before being elected by his peers on January 22, 2020, General Vice-President of the Confederation.
