Eng. Yehia Zaki was appointed in 2019 by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt as the Chairman of the “General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone” (SCZONE), responsible for the management and the operation of 460 km2 of industrial and logistic areas, as well as 6 ports alongside the banks of the Suez Canal, aiming to transform the diversified area into a world-class global logistics hub and industrial processing center that serves the European, African and Asian markets, including the GGC market, to facilitate economic growth and create sustainable and high quality jobs for the Egyptian people. Eng. Zaki is a lead consultant with an extensive experience of over 42 years in the fields of construction and development. Prior to his appointment as the Chairman of SCZONE, Eng. was the Director of Operations in Egypt, for “Dar Group”, a leading, privately-owned and a world-class planning, design, engineering, and project management firms, moreover, he was the Managing Director of one of its affiliates, namely, “Dar Al-Handasah Egypt”, the primary consultancy firm in Egypt, Africa and the Arab world. Leading “Dar al-Handasah Egypt”, Eng. Zaki supervised the design, planning, and construction of giant national projects in Egypt, such as the newly established “Administrative Capital”, with multi-level involvement in its various components such as the Central Business District and the Governmental District, which consists of Cabinet of Ministers and Parliament buildings alongside other 34 governments buildings. Most prominent among those is a 385 m high skyscraper, identified as the tallest tower in Africa. Eng. Zaki serves on several prominent boards, of which is the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), the National Postal Authority, the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA), and the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce.
