Born on August 21st, 1966 in Rabat (Morocco), Ambassador Fathallah Sijilmassi is an economist and a former career diplomat. He is currently the founder and CEO of Positive Agenda Advisory, a strategy and development consulting company. He is also Senior Advisor for international affairs and business development and sits on the board of several companies and institutions. During his public service career, F. Sijilmassi was Morocco’s Ambassador to the European Union in Brussels (2003-2004) to France (2005-2009), CEO of the Moroccan Agency for the Investments Development (2009-2012) and Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (2012 to 2018). Throughout his career, Fathallah Sijilmassi conducted numerous negotiations of international agreements and managed the implementation of several investment and development projects. In 2019, F. Sijilmassi published a book entitled “Europe’s future is in the South” co-edited by two international think tanks, CEPS (Brussels) and EMEA (Barcelona). The book was awarded the Prize of the Francophone Economic Book of the Year in 2020. F. Sijilmassi holds a PhD in International Economics from the University of Grenoble and is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies of Grenoble. Fathallah Sijilmassi was awarded several decorations: Grand Officer of the Ordre National du Mérite and officer of the Légion d’Honneur (France), Encomienda de numero of the Orden de Isabel la Católica (Spain), Star of Merit (Palestine). Fathallah Sijilmassi speaks fluently 4 languages: Arabic, French, English and Spanish. He is married and father of two.
