Description
Elina Laavi works as Minister’s Political State Secretary in the Finnish Government. Laavi is State Secretary to the Minister of Science and Culture Sari Multala in the Ministry of Education and Culture where she is responsible for matters related to higher education, science policy as well as culture and art policy. Laavi is also State Secretary to the Minister of Local and Regional Government Anna-Kaisa Ikonen in the Ministry of Finance. There, Laavi is responsible for matters related to general administrative policy, employer policy, contracts, state share system and questions related to the Åland region.
Ms. Laavi has previously worked as Chief of Public Relations in the National Coalition Party, Head of Public Affairs in The Finnish Pension Alliance, Director at the city of Lahti and as Cooperation Director of the municipalities around the capital region. She has also established the first independent Montessori elementary school in Helsinki.
On July 2023, Ms. Laavi was elected as Director of Economic Development of the City of Lahti. Ms. Laavi is on leave from her position as the Director due to her position as the State Secretary.
