Bio

Poonam Sandhu is a financial sector expert and leads NRDC’s India team in New Delhi. Her work with NRDC focuses on green finance and climate change policy issues. Poonam brings over 20 years of banking and development finance experience. Prior to NRDC, Poonam worked as Senior Advisor, at GIZ and Private Sector Development Advisor with DFID, UK. Her work has focused on strategy and planning, program design, development and management of several programs including Women's Economic Empowerment and Financial Inclusion, Social Impact Investing, Affordable Housing, Responsible Banking and SME development. Prior to her development sector experience, Poonam worked for over a decade as a Corporate and Institutional Banker with multinational banks in India including Credit Agricole and Centurion (now HDFC) Bank. She holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honors) degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
