Description
Giovanni Garcea is Team Leader for Green Finance in the European Commission’s Directorate General for Environment (DG ENV). He is responsible for DG ENV's engagement in the EU Sustainable Finance Strategy. Before joining DG ENV, he was Head of the Economic and Financial Affairs Section in the EU Delegation to China. Previously he worked for the European Commission in Brussels and Luxembourg, where he oversaw the development and implementation of EU rules for investment funds and EU financing programmes for SMEs. He has previous experience in the private sector, having worked with financial companies in Italy and Luxembourg. He has an academic background in economics and finance, with studies completed in Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
