Description
Claire Nicolas is a senior energy economist in ESMAP (Energy Sector Management Assistance Program) at the World Bank. She has over 15 years of experience working on energy transition issues, between the industry, academia and the World Bank. In her current position at ESMAP, Claire leads the Sustainable Renewables Risk Mitigation Initiative (SRMI), a partnership that aims to support governments in developing and implementing a bankable renewable energy project pipeline. She also leads the power system planning /modeling team, working on a large range of topics going from decarbonization analyses to market opening ones. Claire previously held an Economist position in the Office of the Chief Economist of the Sustainable Development Vice Presidency. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked for four years in the oil refining industry. Claire holds an engineering degree from ENSTA ParisTech and a PhD in economics from Nanterre University in France.
