Biography

Mrs. Mimi Kodheli since September 2017, is Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Parliament of the Republic of Albanian and since November 2020, Vice president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Mrs. Mimi Kodheli was born in Tirana, on September 11, 1964. She is married with Leka and they have a son, Mikel. Mrs. Kodheli, was Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania in the period 2013 - 2017. Mrs. Kodheli is Doctorate in Economic Science at the University of Verona, Italy, in cooperation with the University of Tirana, Economic Faculty, since 2007. She has a master degree in Public Administration by the Lincoln University, Nebraska, USA, in cooperation with University of Tirana, since 2000, as well as graduated by the University of Tirana, Economic Faculty, in Finance since 1986. Mrs. Mimi Kodheli entered politics in 2002, when she became Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana. In 2005, she was appointed Prefect of the Tirana County and in 2009 was elected Member of Parliament holding the position of Deputy Chairman of the Economy and Finance Committee during the whole legislation. Since 2007, she is a member of the Headship of the Socialist Party. She has studied in various fields such as, international markets, bond and assets, work and investment markets, trainings on small and medium enterprises and banking management. She has participated in a program of the U.S. State Department, “Women in Politics”, and in the “National Security Policy” of the European Security Centre, Marshall. Mrs. Kodheli speaks fluently English and Italian, and knows French and Spanish language.
