Biography
Hon. Eve Obara is the Member of Parliament for Kabondo Kasipul Constituency, the first elected female representative of the area since Kenya's independence in 1963. Now serving her second term, she has championed transformative changes in education by improving school infrastructure and awarding bursaries and scholarships to over 35,000 students, resulting in enhanced academic performance and local security.
She serves on the Education and Research Committee and the Special Funds Accounts Committee in Parliament and she is Vice Chairman, single constituencies KEWOPA (Kenya Women Parliamentary Association). A former Managing Director of Kenya Literature Bureau (2007–2016), she led the organization to regional market dominance and a top three performance ranking. Hon. Obara, a co-founder of the Women’s Initiative in Education (NEWI), has moderated sessions at UN events, including the Commission on the Status of Women. Honored with the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear, she is a trailblazer in education, publishing, and women’s empowerment.
