Biography
Born in 1982, MP Vilums graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the Latvia University of Agriculture after which he earned a master's degree at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Latvia. For many years he worked at the Latgale Region Development Agency, also gained experience in municipal work, university administration, media and the tourism industry. As an active member of civil society, MP Vilums organised various cultural events to strengthen the Latgalian language and cultural identity. In 2011, he was elected to the Saeima – the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia (11th Saeima), and was subsequently re-elected to the 12th and now to the 14th Saeima. Active member of the Baltic Assembly, a Parliamentary cooperation organisation of the three Baltic states.
