Biography

Eduardo Salhuana Cavides is a Member of the Congress of the Republic of Peru for Perú Posible since 2021. In 1990, he entered politics as a member of the United Left (IU), being elected deputy for Madre de Dios Region. He was elected in 2001 as a Member of the National Congress for the National United Renaissance group. During his mandate, he was a member of the Justice, Constitution, and Budget commissions. He was also president of the Commission on Amazon, Indigenous, and Afro-Peruvian Affairs. He was the Minister of Justice of Peru during the Alejandro Toledo presidency from 2001 until 2005. In 2015 he was appointed General Manager of the Madre de Dios Region.
