Biography

Joana Lima is a Member of the Portuguese Parliament for the Portuguese Socialist Party since 2005. She is the President of the Portuguese Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and she is the Founding President of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, with a mandate until 2024. She is currently committed to the promotion of gender quality and women's human rights in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions. She is a Member of the Health Committee and Alternate Member for the Budget and Finance Committee and for the Committee on the Environment and Energy. She was first elected as a deputy to the National Assembly for the 10th Legislature in 2005, representing the Porto constituency. In the parliament she has served on the Health Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Committee for Environment, Energy, and Spatial Planning, and has been the coordinator of a Working Group on Monitoring the Asbestos Removal Process in Public Buildings. She degree in International Relations from the Porto branch of Lusíada University.
